Seasonal GroundskeeperThe Seasonal Groundskeeper provides a positive transformative guest experience through assisting with the installation and maintenance of new gardens and grounds areas. This position mainly assists the Grounds staff maintaining lawns, edging, and fertilizing as well as assisting in garden areas.Duties and ResponsibilitiesCarry out typical turf and arbor care tasks such as seeding, string-trimming, mowing, edging, shearing, chipping, and pond maintenanceCarry out typical garden tasks such as planting, watering, weeding, pruning, deadheading, and mulching with special emphasis on turf and arbor care related tasksOperate necessary equipment, such as mowers, blowers, hedge trimmers, tillers, and utility vehicles and tractorsUtilize garden tools and perform heavy manual labor in all weather conditionsRegularly lift 35 pounds and occasionally lift to 50 poundsBend or stoop for extended periods of time, walk various terrain and climb laddersRapidly perform required tasks with accuracyWork independently while being productive and making efficient use of timeAlways working with gardening safety and best practices in mindWillingness to interact with the public in an informal way answering general questionsOther duties as assignedRequirementsAbility to utilize garden tools and perform heavy manual labor in all weather conditionsRegularly lift 35 to 50 poundsBend, stoop, or kneel for extended periods of timeAbility to work independently or under supervision while being productive and making efficient use of timeMaintain a positive attitude to foster a productive and welcoming environment for staff and guestsAbility to relate to, work with, and manage people of all ages, diverse backgrounds, skills and abilitiesDetailed focusedWeekday work schedule is typical with some evenings and weekends requiredQualificationsA minimum of 1 year of horticulture, gardening, or other related experience preferredOther combinations of education/experience appropriate to the job will be consideredKnowledge of plants, gardens, and gardening practicesMust have a valid Ohio Driver's LicenseMust pass a background checkMust pass drug test
