Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med-surg Adult, PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Active WA license required Certifications: None specified Must-Have: Willingness to work through the holiday season with minimal time off requests Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse for the Med-Surg/PCU department. The facility is a 25-bed critical access hospital. Candidates must be experienced in all areas and willing to flex to different departments as needed. The RN will identify patient's and significant others' needs for patient education. Education will be provided utilizing appropriate modalities. Patient safety will be a priority through preventative measures, including side rails and safe equipment use. The RN will follow restraint policies correctly and document evaluations appropriately. Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment in the PCU/Telemetry/MedSurg areas is required. The RN should be aware of troubleshooting techniques for essential equipment and follow procedures for repairs. Implementation of infection control and isolation procedures is necessary, in accordance with proper documentation practices. Standard precautions must be utilized at all times. Complete, accurate, and concise documentation of patient status, nursing interventions, and patient responses during the assigned shift is expected. The RN will document charges accurately and ensure the timely completion of physician orders. A 24-hour check of orders may be required within the duties of the assigned shift. Change of shift reports will be given to oncoming employees in a complete and accurate manner. Effective communication with other departments is essential. Critical lab values must be reported to physicians promptly, according to policy. The RN will maintain and restock emergency carts, room supplies, and general supplies. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
