Lunch/Recess Attendant

The Lunch Recess Attendant shall assist the school Principal, and/or their designee in carrying out his/her responsibilities by acting as lunch assistants, recess assistants, and all other tasks and duties assigned by the principal, and/or their designee that support the building's educational purpose or otherwise improves the learning environment. This position is 3 hours per day.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Act as an assistant to the school Principal in the general supervision of the lunch program.
• Supervise children in the lunchroom, assisting custodian with wiping down tables after each class.
• Supervise students in the school yard, or in the classroom for recess on inclement weather no more than 20 minutes.
• Perform clerical tasks assigned by the Principal and or their designee so long as they are not exclusively within the job description of the administrative assistant.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding all students.
• During recess/lunch duty he/she must remain with assigned class. In case of emergency use a walkie-talkie to notify the office.
• Perform all other tasks assigned by the principal and or their designee that support the building's educational purpose or otherwise improves the learning environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED
• Ability to work well with children with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Teacher Assistant Certification, preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, bending, stretching, and walking. The employee must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting and/or moving light objects up to a minimum of twenty-five (25) pounds, and occasionally lift items over twenty-five pounds. Any lifting over 40 lbs. requires two (2) people.
