Master Trades Specialist (Automobile Technician)

Job Title Master Trades Specialist (Automobile Technician) Department Maintenance Group 1 Job Summary Performs complex repair or construction of university facilities or property requiring specialized training in a skilled trade (Automobile Technician). Works second shift Monday through Friday, 3:30pm to 11:30pm. Essential Duties Reviews job orders, inspects site and consults with client; determines best method to complete project. Estimates amount of materials and equipment needed; prepares cost estimates and arranges for materials to be at job site. Performs complex repair or installation on University facilities equipment using expertise acquired through specialized automotive/mechanic training. Serves as informational resource to other staff. Maintains and cleans tools and equipment; keeps work area clean and orderly. May serve as liaison to outside contractors and other departments; may prepare some paperwork; may maintain some files. Minimum Qualifications Requires nine months training beyond high school in a skilled trade and three years of experience in that trade, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Driver's license required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of the procedures and equipment of a particular skilled trade. Mechanical aptitude.
