Overview Break Time Food Service Managers oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the formal food service programs, including sales profitability, expense control, waste control, inventory, labor control, and customer service. Responsibilities Working with customers – Consistently and courteously greet and thank each customer and provide fast and friendly service; handle complaints quickly; conduct accurate and efficient transactions. Merchandising and sales – Promote sales using suggestive selling techniques. Food preparation – Follow guidelines, recipes, and job aids for proper preparation and execution of all food service programs; monitor inspection of products for correct temperature, cleanliness, rotation, portioning, and pricing; use ovens, grill, fryer, and other kitchen tools; maintain inventory levels; develop duty checklists; order authorized products; ensure proper receipt, rotation, and storage. Operations and cleanliness – Ensure equipment, dishes, and food service areas are clean and maintained; contact vendors for servicing; enforce quality, service, cleanliness, food safety, and proper product display and storage standards. Supervising – Manage operations of store food service programs, including profitability and expense control; train and oversee employees on prep and execution; maintain labor schedules; ensure employees receive adequate food safety training. Communication – Maintain timely and professional communication with customers, vendors, employees, and management regarding store operations. Working closely with management – Provide input for performance evaluations; recommend employee actions; help train new employees on policies; perform loss control functions related to cash handling, lottery sales, food waste, and merchandise sales; report concerns. Teamwork – Assist with recruiting, training, coaching, and developing a team that meets customer needs; exhibit professionalism; create a positive work culture and promote teamwork. Working with technology – Utilize POS systems, product labeling system, computers, and handheld devices; perform calculations for change, shift reports, and inventory counts; maintain electronic records for all food service programs. Job Requirements 18 years of age or older Flexible availability, including all shifts, weekends, and holidays Works well individually and in leading a team Ability and willingness to attend food safety training and obtain a Food Handler’s Card or equivalent ServeSafe certified or able to complete course and pass test as administered by a Break Time ServeSafe proctor Ability to perform duties with accuracy and minimal supervision Physical ability to move and position products in cooler (≤30°F) for up to one hour and in freezer (0°F) Physical ability to lift or move items up to 50 pounds and retrieve supplies from occupied spaces Ability to stand for up to nine hours per shift Ability to perform mathematical calculations for change, shift reports, and inventory counts Ability to learn new concepts, use technical materials, and consistently operate computer and office productivity machinery Willingness to ascend and descend ladders when necessary Ability to visually observe and inspect items and environment for safety and job responsibilities Proficient in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English Pass a background check and drug test Legal authorization to work in the United States Preferred Skills High school diploma or GED equivalent Prior food service experience Benefits Our benefits are designed to invest in you!
