Licensed Optician

Job Description Licensed Opticians are responsible for selling & dispensing eyewear and accessories to patients. They ensure patients are fitted with the right–size frames that fit their needs and lifestyle, and dispense lenses with the correct prescription and measurements. Licensed Opticians are at the heart of our business, and their technical and customer service skills ensure patient satisfaction and repeat business. Deliver extraordinary experience to each patient, providing them with a complete understanding of our customized product recommendations and services. Custom–fit glasses and precisely place prescription in lenses. Develop own clientele through outstanding service and obtaining referrals. Assists co‑workers with difficult or complex product needs and prescriptions. Stay current on company and industry products, procedures, manufacturer rebates, and available lens and frame types. Takes and returns patient calls, updates patients on the status of their orders, and resolves order issues. Escalates any issues to the Store Manager as necessary. Retrieves patient charts and electronic health records. Assists patients in selecting frames, lens type, and lens treatments (tints, coatings, etc.) based on specific needs and facial measurements. Educates patients on proper eyeglass and contact lens care. Collects eye and face measurements to ensure proper fit. Interprets prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists. Creates work orders for lab technicians, specifying necessary lens information. Follows up on all pending orders, verifies punctuality, and informs patients of status or delays. Dispenses glasses by inspecting the product, checking for proper fit, adjusting as necessary, and asking for feedback. Adjusts eyewear to ensure visual acuity, proper fit, and patient comfort; uses various tools to perform adjustments and repairs. Proficient in using tools such as pupilometers, PD sticks, lensometers, pliers, wrenches, and frame warmers. Communicates regularly with technicians and/or store managers, providing additional patient information or order status. Inspects the final product for flaws, cleans, and polishes lenses using cloths and solvents. Cleans and organizes frame boards, displays, mirrors, workbench, office area, bathroom, and breakroom, maintaining overall cleanliness and visual appeal of the store. Restocks retail boards with new merchandise. Understands product issues and analyzes problems, thoroughly and accurately answering patient questions regarding insurance, warranty, products, materials, services, pricing, upgrades, and promotions. Collaborates with technicians, front desk associates, managers, and optometrists. Sells miscellaneous products such as cleaners, contact lens supplies, sunglasses, safety glasses, and more.
