Recovery LPN – Brockton Behavioral Health (40 Hours) POSITION SUMMARY: Under supervision, the Recovery LPN will provide clinical and administrative support in the BMC Brockton Behavioral Health Clinical Stabilization Services (CSS) unit. The role facilitates patient access to recovery‑oriented substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, including medication administration and evaluation. The LPN supports patients throughout relapse, serving as motivator, advocate, and problem‑solver, with a strong understanding of addiction‑associated comorbidities. The position requires good organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES Engage patients in a residential treatment setting. Assist with patient care: record vital signs, discuss and document primary health concerns. Perform and record specialized testing, including EKGs, urine HCG, and urine drug screenings. Prepare and safely administer medications, including immunizations, flu shots, and other injections. Document medication administration, maintain controlled substance counts, and coordinate with providers and on‑site pharmacy for medication needs. Maintain a clean and orderly medication room and administration area. Conduct quality control testing of point‑of‑care lab equipment. Perform nursing duties specific to the department (e.g., apply dressings, wound care as directed). Triage sick complaints from residential patients, perform initial evaluation (vitals, etc.), and report to on‑call provider. Collaborate with behavioral health counselors to develop and implement recovery plans for adults with SUD, mental health, or dual diagnoses. Provide ongoing support and follow‑up to promote recovery and healthy lifestyles. Use empathetic, non‑judgmental language and motivational interviewing to help patients identify and prioritize their needs. Document patient encounters and interventions in the electronic medical record. Conform to hospital standards of performance, conduct, patient rights, and privacy; adhere to BMC’s RESPECT behavioral standards. Perform additional duties as assigned. EDUCATION High school diploma or equivalent. LPN diploma from an accredited institution. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED Current license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse. CPR & BLS/First Aid certification upon hire. EXPERIENCE Previous experience working with substance use disorder patient populations preferred. Preferred proficiency in Epic EMR. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Knowledge of community, social, and health resources, especially substance use‑related resources. Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and establish working relationships with patients, families, and professionals. Computer competency with electronic medical records. Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem‑solving abilities. Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Bilingual or multilingual skills beyond English are preferred. Flexibility to adapt to client priorities, evolving needs, and goals. Sensitivity to diversity in culture, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation. COMPENSATION RANGE $27.64 – $38.70 per hour.
