Transfusion Medicine Physician The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Phoenix Children’s is seeking a Transfusion Medicine Physician to join a group of 3-4 physicians in Transfusion Medicine and Apheresis. The physician will join 18 faculty members in the rapidly expanding department. Responsibilities Serve as a clinical attending on our Apheresis, Transfusion, and Coagulation Services Support the blood bank that performs a full range of immunohematology testing and dispenses approximately 18,000 blood products per year Provide therapeutic apheresis and phlebotomy service with about 650 cases per year Provide coagulation service Manage a robust preventative red blood cell exchange program for pediatric and adult hemoglobinopathy patients Perform collections for bone marrow transplant, CAR‑T, and gene therapies Offer extracorporeal photopheresis, plasma exchange, and LDL apheresis, all supported by a dedicated apheresis nursing division There is unique potential for customization of this role commensurate with experience and interest. In addition to core responsibilities, candidates may elect to exercise expertise in informatics, coagulation, or other domains within clinical pathology. The position offers a range of opportunities for medical directorship, program development, teaching, and research. Qualifications Board certified or eligible in Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine Residency training in Clinical Pathology (preferred), Pediatrics, or Hematology/Oncology Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Arizona Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with physicians, clinical laboratory scientists, nurses, caregivers, and leadership teams to advance patient care and the hospital mission Faculty appointments with the University of Arizona‑Phoenix College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic Arizona, and Creighton University School of Medicine are encouraged.
