Position Overview The Project Manager (PM) is an experienced construction professional responsible for successfully delivering healthcare construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role manages one or more projects at a time, with a strong emphasis on safety, regulatory compliance, infection control, and client satisfaction within active or occupied healthcare environments. The PM serves as the Owner’s primary point of contact for all business, contractual, and operational matters and works in close partnership with the Project Superintendent and Project Executive. This position splits time between the office and field, with frequent site visits and potential full‑time on‑site presence depending on project needs. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in healthcare construction, including hospitals, medical office buildings, surgical centers, specialty clinics, and other regulated healthcare facilities. Responsibilities Lead healthcare construction projects with a strong focus on safety, quality, schedule, budget, and regulatory compliance. Serve as the primary liaison between Higley Construction, healthcare system representatives, facilities teams, clinicians, architects, engineers, and subcontractors. Review and negotiate subcontractor and supplier agreements, ensuring alignment with healthcare standards and owner requirements. Oversee quality control measures and proactively address common healthcare construction challenges. Facilitate and lead Owner‑Architect‑Contractor (OAC) and subcontractor meetings. Maintain strong working relationships with healthcare clients to support repeat work and future business opportunities. Mentor and lead Project Engineers and other project team members, ensuring consistency with healthcare project standards and best practices. Skills And Abilities Strong understanding of healthcare construction workflows, regulatory requirements, and owner expectations. Ability to effectively manage construction activities in occupied or operational healthcare facilities. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with clinical staff, facilities teams, executives, and consultants. Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to think proactively in high‑risk, fast‑paced environments. Demonstrated leadership skills with a collaborative, team‑oriented approach. Proficiency in construction software and willingness to learn new technologies. Solid understanding of construction accounting, cost forecasting, and healthcare project financial controls. Ability to “manage up” and communicate clearly with internal leadership and external stakeholders. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Minimum of 5+ years of progressive construction experience, with a strong preference for healthcare experience.
