Credentialing Specialist

Overview Position: Full-Time Location: 1335 Sligh BLVD, Orlando, FL 32806 Shift: Monday - Friday Initial Credentialing (Hospital Level - Medical Staff Credentialing and Privileging) At Orlando Health, we are ordinary people with extraordinary individuality, working together to bring help, healing and hope to those we serve. Responsibilities Provides support to medical staff and allied health staff with credentialing and privileging activities for initial and reappointment, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards and with Orlando Health Bylaws, Rules & Regulations. Provides exceptional customer service to physicians and physician office staff, educates them on the credentialing process, and maintains ongoing contact throughout the process. Obtains timely and accurate primary source verification for credentialing functions; completes accurate and timely data entry of credentialing activity into credentialing systems; interfaces with IS to transition manual processes to the credentialing data system. Maintains the medical staff database for all physician and allied health credentialing and privileging activities. Identifies trends and assists in developing action plans for performance improvement; evaluates departmental Policies & Procedures and recommends changes to Medical Staff Supervisor; develops and distributes reports as necessary using the physician database. Provides support to department chairs and leadership in meeting calendar preparation, meeting notices, and presentation of initial credentialing and reappointment files for the Credentials Committee; provides clerical support to Chief of Staff and Vice Chief of Staff for scheduling ad hoc meetings; advances meeting minutes to the appropriate leadership committee. Manages human resources functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling. Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies and applicable federal, state, and local standards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Assists the Medical Staff Supervisor with credentialing, privileging and meeting support activities for the Orlando Health Medical Staff and leadership; reviews processes to improve performance and meet customer needs; maintains confidentiality; supports professional growth and development. Qualifications Education/Training: High school graduate or equivalent; knowledge of medical terminology. Experience: Three (3) years of credentialing/privileging experience or one (1) year of credentialing/privileging experience plus two (2) years of clinical experience; associate degree in business, health care, accounting or related field may substitute for two (2) years of experience; bachelor degree in health, business or related field may substitute for three (3) years of experience.
