Position Summary
The Supervising Attendant Guard is responsible for the supervision of all reporting personnel. The supervising attendant guard performs typical duties of an Attendant Guard. Enforces the rules and regulations of the New York Botanical Garden. Responds and implements emergency procedures and notifies NYBG staff when necessary. Assists in the training and orientation of new staff.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise attendant guards and other appropriate personnel; prepares and implements personnel post assignments
- Assists in the orientation and training of security personnel
- Reports inappropriate behavior of personnel to superiors and prepares related documentation
- Implements emergency procedures. When necessary, provides first aid and notifies appropriate Garden staff, 911 and/or the authorities when necessary
- Responds to all emergencies and calls for assistance, providing first aid and notifying 911 and/or the authorities when necessary
- Responds to calls of disorderly conduct, suspicious persons, and trespassers, evicting such individuals and notifying the authorities when necessary
- Enforces NYBG policies and procedures
- Prepares all necessary reports and completes required forms
- May be assigned tasks usually performed by reporting personnel
- Assists with visitors, staff and students with reasonable requests
Qualifications
- Must possess and maintain a valid New York State Driver’s License
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and work in all types of weather
- High School Diploma or G.E.D required
- 4+ years of full-time security experience or related work with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity required
- Must possess and maintain a valid New York State Security Guard License from the Division of Licensing Services
- Must possess and maintain a valid Indoor Place of Assembly F-03 Certificate of Fitness or be able to successfully receive the required Certificate of Fitness within the first 90 days of employment
- Must possess and maintain a valid Citywide Fire Guard for Impairment F-01 Certificate of Fitness or be able to successfully receive the required Certificate of Fitness within the first 90 days of employment
- Must possess and maintain a valid Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems S-95 Certificate of Fitness or be able to successfully receive the required Certificate of Fitness within the first 90 days of employment
Physical Demand & Work Environment
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time.
Work Schedule
This is a full time role
- Tuesday to Saturday, 8AM –4PM.
Regular Days Off: Sunday and Monday
