Market Risk Analyst

Experience & Background

2-3 years of professional experience in risk management, quantitative analysis, or a related function within financial or energy markets.

Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in statistical modeling, data analysis, and risk measurement methodologies.

Familiarity with market risk, credit risk, or operational risk frameworks and associated metrics (e.g., VaR, stress testing, scenario analysis).

Experience in a power trading firm or energy commodities environment is a strong plus, including exposure to power markets, congestion, nodal pricing, or energy derivatives.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in Python, R or similar quantitative programming languages for building analysis tools and risk models.

Strong skills in Excel, including advanced functions and data manipulation.

Experience with SQL or other database query languages is preferred.

Understanding of trading systems, ETRMs, or real-time market data platforms is a plus.

Knowledge & Competencies

Solid understanding of financial products, derivatives, and risk drivers.

Ability to interpret and analyze large datasets; strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Knowledge of power market fundamentals, ISO/RTO markets, and physical vs. financial power products is a plus.

Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Ability to work in a fast-paced trading environment with tight deadlines.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently when needed.
