HVAC Truck Based Journeyman Mechanic (union)

Responsibilities Work on light commercial and/or heavy commercial HVAC teams with advanced equipment. Perform maintenance, repair and replacement services on commercial heating, cooling systems, centrifugal, steam turbines, and open‑drive screw chillers. Provide factory certification through the Service Technical Academy, receiving recognition, monetary rewards, and advancement. Support customers by providing solutions, recommendations, and quotes to improve facility efficiency and resolve service‑related issues. Act as a trusted advisor during commissioning, aftermarket service, and upselling opportunities. Use troubleshooting tools such as vibration equipment and dial indicators for shaft alignment. Qualifications Must be a member, or willing to join, the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry. Minimum of 3 years of commercial/industrial HVAC mechanical troubleshooting experience (rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing). Experience in mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators and troubleshooting driveline vibration. Willingness to travel 10%‑20% to support branch customers. Ability to pass a knowledge examination and complete training in HVAC products and sales quoting. Strong written and oral communication skills; able to write customer problem, cause, and corrective actions. Self‑starter with a passion to learn and apply on the job and prioritize safety. Valid driver's license, applicable state or local HVAC licensing, and Universal EPA refrigerant license. Compensation and Benefits Hourly rate: $43.05 (DOE) determined by the collective bargaining agreement. Benefits provided through a local labor union under the collective bargaining agreement.
