POSITION SUMMARY World Relief Upstate SC is seeking a dynamic Adult Education Intern to walk alongside refugees and immigrants on their path toward economic self‑sufficiency through education and skill‑building. This unpaid internship offers hands‑on experience in adult education and refugee resettlement services. The intern will support our Adult Education Specialist within the Economic Empowerment team in delivering holistic educational services, including English language learning support, digital literacy instruction, proficiency assessments, workforce readiness education, Café English (conversational English practice sessions), ESL tutoring volunteer support and academic skill‑building. Under supervision, the intern will assist clients in developing the foundational skills needed to succeed in the U.S. workforce and navigate daily life in their new community. The intern will also assist with coordinating and supporting workshops, tutoring sessions, and informational classes that equip clients with practical knowledge and confidence. Additionally, the intern will help prepare instructional materials, track participation and progress, manage program logistics, and connect clients to community resources that support continued learning and long‑term advancement. INTERNSHIP DETAILS Type: Unpaid Hours: 30 hours per week End Date: August 28, 2026 Assist the Adult Education Specialist with lesson preparation, instructional materials, and classroom setup Support clients during English language learning, digital literacy, Café English conversational practice sessions and workforce readiness sessions Support ESL tutoring volunteers as they support clients Help maintain accurate client records, files, and data entry in program systems Assist with case management tasks under staff supervision Prepare materials and set up for workshops, classes, orientations, and trainings Provide logistical support during classes, meetings, and group sessions Help coordinate schedules, appointments, and communications with clients Support outreach and follow‑up with clients regarding educational services and activities Assist with tracking client attendance, participation, and progress toward learning goals Connect clients to community resources that support continued education and self‑sufficiency Perform general administrative duties as assigned to support program operations Other responsibilities as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief Strong cross‑cultural competency and sensitivity to the experiences of refugees and immigrants Compassionate, professional, and client‑centered approach Clear verbal and written communication skills with strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to learn new databases and case management systems Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; experience or coursework in adult education, ESL instruction, or English language training preferred Eagerness to learn and contribute in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment Valid driver’s license, access to reliable vehicle and clean driving record High school diploma or bachelor’s degree in related field Fluency in English required; additional languages preferred, such as Spanish, Ukrainian, Swahili, Rohingya, or Arabic #J-18808-Ljbffr
