OB-GYN Physician - Winn Army Community Hospital, Fort Stewart

Position Title: Physician OB-GYN (Independent Contractor)

Winn Army Community Hospital is a 112-bed community hospital providing primary and specialty care for a patient population of over 70,000. As a civilian OB-GYN physician, you will play an integral role in ensuring the health and readiness of all women at every stage of life. The Physician OB-GYN provides inpatient, outpatient, surgical, and on-call obstetrics and gynecology services including diagnosing and treating diseases of the female reproductive system and the prenatal, perinatal and postnatal care of routine and complicated pregnancies and routine care of the normal neonate.

Duties include but not limited to the following:

• Obtain medical history; perform physical examination; determine need for and order appropriate laboratory and radiology tests; interpret results and make evaluation to determine diagnosis and prognosis and to determine and initiate appropriate treatment, therapy and follow-up. Provide complete and appropriate instructions regarding medications, limitations and follow-up plans. Seek advice or refer patients to consultants as appropriate.

• Respond to "Code Blue" medical emergency alerts within the hospital and provide resuscitation treatment until more specialized treatment arrives. Should resuscitation efforts be unsuccessful, the physician shall pronounce the patient dead, complete necessary records, and notify the next-of-kin if they are physically present.

• As requested, provide medical consultation to Nurse Midwives, Nurse Practitioners and other clinical staff consistent with the most recent standards of care.

• Ensure timely dictation of surgical inpatient services. Maintain medical records in accordance with designated regulations. Medical records shall be subject to peer review, and the contract physician shall be notified of deficiencies in satisfying record-keeping requirements.

• Must remain in the clinic or be immediately available to the clinic throughout scheduled shift, except in response to emergencies.

Qualifications

• M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school in the U.S or Canada and successful completion of postgraduate training.

• Must have a valid, unrestricted medical license in at least 1 state, territory, or commonwealth of the U.S.

• A minimum of one (1) year of OB-GYN experience within the last two (2) years working as a full scope obstetrics and gynecology physician.

• Must be board eligible/certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

• Must have a current, valid individual Drug Enforcement Administration registration.

• Must have a current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).

• Must be a U.S. citizen.

Work Schedule

• 14 clinic days that include 1-3 OR days; Primary In-house Calls: 1 weekend (two 12-hr shifts on Sat & Sun); 2 weeknights; 2 L&D and ER/Other Consults primary calls/backup day call; Backup Beeper Calls - backup calls coincide with primary call schedule; 11 days off schedule, which includes most weekends. Secondary or backup on-call (beeper) services are after hours and weekends and are on a rotation with other clinical providers. Providers are required to meet a 30-minute response time.
