About the Position
SEIU Local 105 is hiring a full-time Political Director to strengthen our political work and program through a lens of member and worker organizing. This role ensures the local operates as a unified political organization while expanding our political power through member leadership development, education, organizing and engagement. 

This position requires strong judgment, the ability to convene staff and leaders across departments, and experience navigating political relationships in complex environments. The Political Director will work in partnership with the State Council and other SEIU Local Unions in Colorado. 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Centralize organizing and member leadership development in all planning
• Coordinate electoral planning for targeted strategic campaigns with the State Council and SEIU stakeholders with clear goals and benchmarks
• Work with the State Council to build and execute field campaign for targeted elections, political accountability and state battles
• Assist Local union staff in recruiting, training, mobilizing and deploying member political organizers (MPOs)
• Ensure Local Union and State Council regular reporting of progress-to-goal for electoral programs
• Increase SEIU political, community and labor strength through developing and enhancing working relationships with State Federations, Central Labor Councils, Affiliated and Independent Unions, community organizations and advocacy groups
• Integrate Local Union political capacity into all electoral and member based programs, including worksite mapping, recruiting worksite leaders, raising COPE funds, conducting member census and registering members to vote
• Enhance the political infrastructure of SEIU through assisting the development of State Council plans, political and legislative programs, and through developing grassroots training and education programs for members and local union staff
• Convene and facilitate regular cross-department political coordination meetings
• Ensure political priorities, timelines, and strategies are understood and aligned across departments
• Translate political strategy into department-specific implications and action steps
• Serve as the internal point of coordination to ensure the local operates as a unified political organization
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with federal, state, municipal and community leaders
• Track election calendars, appointments, vacancies, and local political opportunities
• Coordinate endorsement processes in alignment with organizational political strategy and internal approval processes
• Represent SEIU Local 105 in political and community spaces
• Integrate COPE into political planning and execution across departments by coordinating engagement, supporting member leadership participation, presenting at member bodies as needed, and identifying opportunities to strengthen political infrastructure
• Support legislative and issue-based political work as assigned and within established strategy
• Participate in union-wide events, actions, conferences, and organizational priorities as needed, consistent with the shared responsibility of all staff to support the work of the local
• All other duties as assigned 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Commitment to economic and racial justice
• Ability to effectively plan, implement work, and manage time individually and as part of a team
• Experience and knowledge of VAN, TRACER and other applicable programs
• Motivated self-starter who is also a solid team player and can meet goals
• The ability to work with people from other cultures and backgrounds and move workers into action
• Driver's license and reliable car is required
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in political, labor, or community organizing work
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining relationships
• Strong judgment and ability to navigate ambiguity
• Ability to convene and coordinate across departments and roles
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to motivate, influence, and hold others accountable
• Willingness and ability to work long and irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as required

Preferred

• Familiarity with Colorado electoral and legislative processes at the state and local level
• Experience supporting political campaigns, endorsements, or coalition work
• Fluency in Spanish and/or Amharic

SALARY & BENEFITS

• Salary range of $103,991 to $120,327 based on experience.
• Monthly car allowance of $545
