The Role ASD – A Home for Life is seeking a motivated and mission-driven associate to join the ASD Development Department as a Permanent Part-Time Development Associate. Under the supervision of the Chief Development Officer with hands‑on experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor engagement, special events, and development operations. Will play a key role in supporting fundraising initiatives that sustain/grow housing and services for individuals impacted by chronic health conditions. What You’ll Do You will play a key role in sustaining and growing housing and services for individuals impacted by HIV. Working across fundraising, events, communications, and community engagement, you will help advance ASD’s mission through relationship‑building, research, and strategic donor support. Fundraising & Donor Engagement Conduct prospect research to identify potential individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners. Support donor stewardship through thank‑you letters, communications, and briefing materials for donor meetings. Maintain and update the donor database, including gift tracking and record management. Build donor cultivation strategies using data and research to increase support and enhance donor experience. Support implementation of the organization’s marketing and direct mail campaigns, including deferred giving initiatives. Event & Campaign Support Assist with planning and coordination of fundraising events, including invitation management, guest tracking, logistics, and volunteer support. Plan small donor cultivation events in partnership with the President/CEO, Communications, Development, and Operations teams. Provide follow‑up communications and materials for events and campaigns. Grant & Research Support Research grant opportunities and foundation prospects. Gather program information and supporting materials to assist with grant proposals and reports. Communications & Impact Storytelling Draft development communications, newsletters, and donor updates. Gather stories and impact data that highlight the organization’s mission and programs. Manage social media posts and weekly communications. Community Engagement Identify opportunities for community partnerships and collaborations. Conduct outreach to foster relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community leaders. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Business, or a related field from an accredited institution. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong organizational ability and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) or comparable software. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently. Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to use data to inform decisions. Collaborative team player with the ability to engage effectively with donors, volunteers, staff, and community members. Valid driver’s license and ability to lift, push, or pull up to 30 pounds. Preferred Experience in nonprofit fundraising, communications, marketing, public relations, or event coordination. Familiarity with donor databases or CRM systems. Passion for community service, social impact, and housing justice.
