Position Title Custodian Location Lake Street Elementary Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Capable of moving heavy furniture, working off of step-ladders, and operating custodial cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, polishers, and mops. Experience in cleaning and housekeeping tasks. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Holds a valid driver's license and has reliable transportation to/from work. Primary Job Function To perform custodian cleaning and housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment conducive to the educational process. Responsibilities Performs housekeeping duties as assigned, including vacuum, sweep and mop floors, dust and clean furniture, empty waste baskets, clean dry‑erase and/or chalk boards, wash windows, clean and disinfect restrooms, and other tasks as assigned. Operate and maintain custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, buffers, and carpet extractors. Maintain a clean and organized custodial supplies closet and cart, requesting supplies in advance of running out. Follow verbal and written instructions from Supervisor. Follow written label instructions for proper measuring, mixing, and safe handling and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Open and secure assigned areas. Report building or equipment repair needs to Supervisor. Plan own work to assure that all assigned tasks are completed at an acceptable level of quality within the allotted time. Request supplies and equipment. All other duties as directed by the Supervisor.
