Job Title Speech Language Pathologist Job Title Code 00865 Salary Grade T03 - T06 Department SPED/Exceptional Education Reports To Director of Exceptional Education FLSA Status Exempt Position Summary The Speech-Language Pathologist provides support to the educational process with specific responsibilities for identifying students with communication disorders; recommending, planning, and implementing appropriate treatment to minimize adverse impact on student success. What You'll Be Doing (Responsibilities) Compliance, Documentation & Recordkeeping Maintains a variety of confidential and non‑confidential electronic and manual files and/or records (e.g., progress reports, activity logs, billing information, treatment plans, required documentation, quarterly reports, screening results) to ensure the availability of information as required for reference and compliance. Collaborates with a variety of groups and/or individuals (e.g., parents, teachers, physicians, administration, team members, other professionals) to communicate information, resolve issues, and provide services in compliance with established guidelines. Complete all required forms for Medicaid billing, including therapy logs and progress reports within required timelines. Update and submit Caseload Summary report monthly with logs. Submit required paperwork to the Speech/Language office for review. Compile year‑end data and complete all required year‑end forms. Evaluation, Eligibility & IEP Responsibilities Assess and evaluate students' communication skills (e.g., articulation, fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language) to identify communication disorders, determine program eligibility, and develop treatment recommendations. Determine and use professionally sound procedures for referrals, identification, diagnosis, caseload selection, case termination, and follow‑up in accordance with the Exceptional Education Department handbook. Provide direct and indirect speech and language services to students to implement treatments in compliance with goals and objectives. Secure written parental permission for consents as mandated by IDEA. Develop and implement an IEP for each student within required timelines. Ensure that student IEPs are implemented exactly as written. Establish daily schedules for assigned students based on the service minutes in their IEP. Service Delivery, Communication & Coordination Complete quarterly progress reports for each student and provide to parents during conferences or mail with grade cards. Utilize coordination time for professional responsibilities such as: Developing and updating therapy plans Holding parent conferences Conducting staff consultations Performing classroom observations To Be Successful at This Job: Qualifications Master's degree in Speech‑Language Pathology or a closely related degree. Demonstrated experience providing speech‑language pathology services to students grades K‑9. Experience may be gained during post‑secondary degree program. Missouri Board of Healing Arts Licensure or Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech/Language Hearing Association. Preferred Qualifications Advanced Expertise & Certifications Physical Demands This job requires that the employee be able to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least ten pounds. Job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Visual ability requires mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
