ROLE(S) – KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – REQUIREMENTS

School Police Dispatcher Summary: School Police Dispatchers serve as the central communication hub for the IPS School Police Department. They handle emergency and non-emergency calls, coordinate officer response, monitor security systems, and ensure accurate record-keeping. Key Responsibilities: Answer and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls. Dispatch IPS police officers and coordinate response efforts. Monitor school security systems, including alarms and surveillance cameras. Maintain accurate and detailed communication logs and records. Utilize multi-line phone systems and two-way radios for communication. Provide clear and concise information to officers, school staff, and emergency responders. Assist with administrative tasks and data entry as needed. Requirements: High school diploma or GED required. Experience in dispatch, emergency communication, customer service, or a related field preferred. Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations. Strong multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Familiarity with multi-line phone systems, computer databases, and dispatch software is a plus. Must be able to work every weekend and all holidays. Spanish and/or bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply. This is not a requirement.
