Sr. Commercial/Industrial HVAC Service Technician

American Industrial, LLC dba American Industrial Services (AIS) is a full-service mechanical contractor and service provider focused on partnering with owners and general contractors who build and maintain commercial, retail and industrial buildings in North Carolina’s Triad region and beyond.

The primary purpose of the Service Technician is to provide preventative maintenance for and conduct repairs of commercial/industrial HVAC systems utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, electrical schematics, pneumatic and electronic control systems, pipe fitting, welding and brazing and mechanical layouts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for servicing product and equipment on assigned projects and ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Performs repairs, overhauls, and start-ups of commercial HVAC systems.
• Uses a variety of hand tools, following blueprints, wiring diagrams, piping schemes or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair units.
• Identifies, analyzes, diagnoses, and repairs systems and products at customer's location.
• Performs preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications as needed or requested by customers.
• Prepares for on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials and coordinating on-site work, as necessary.
• Maintains tools and equipment by inspecting for signs of wear.
• Documents work by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files.
• Represents company by serving as a direct customer contact.
• Determines parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need.
• Keeps current all manufacturers' products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair.
• Provides technical support to customers.
• Knowledgeable with the products and services offered by AIS and effective in the sales of those products and services.
• Maintain and submit time recap sheets and service reports for accurate time accounting using proper labor codes.
• Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.

Qualification requirements:

• Must possess a minimum of 6 years of Commercial / Industrial HVAC service experience
• Strong knowledge of applied HVAC equipment systems, controls, and mechanical components
• Ability to read drawings and construction plans
• EPA Universal Certification (preferred) and experience with OSHA guidelines
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Must successfully pass a background check
• Ability to read and understand English.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to drive forklift and make appropriate safety decisions when operating forklift.
• Ability to lift, bend, stoop, climb, and/or step-up on a regular basis.
• Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs
• Ability to utilize a ladder and complete work higher than 6 feet off the ground/on the roof.
