Grower

We're seeking a full‑time Grower to support nursery operations at our Cottage Grove, Oregon facility. Job Description A Day in the Life: This role assists with the production of high‑quality forest seedling crops by applying effective nursery practices and principles. The Grower coordinates and trains nursery workers, maintains production equipment, and monitors plant growth and health. The position is physically demanding, requires weekend and shift work, and involves exposure to pesticides, fertilizers, and environmental extremes. Key Accountabilities: Implement water, fertilization, and greenhouse cultural programs per Crop Prescriptions. Operate the Argus Environmental Control System for irrigation, climate, and alarms. Monitor seedling growth through morphological measurements and tissue analysis. Inspect for insect and disease activity and apply control methods. Maintain accurate records, including computerized systems. Inspect, repair, and replace Argus monitoring equipment and software. Supervise and train seasonal irrigation staff. Train nursery workers on safe, efficient practices in weeding, quality control, and cultural practices. Follow the company’s Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program for pesticide application. Provide regular feedback on growing programs to the Production Manager. Clean and replace filters, inspect injectors, and maintain irrigation lines and mixing equipment. Assist with crop inventory and material stock. Promote collaboration and teamwork at all levels. Set production targets and evaluate performance. Qualifications Required / Minimum Qualifications & Skills: Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation. Knowledge of greenhouse equipment and climate control systems. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to work independently. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills. Excellent organizational and record‑keeping abilities. Basic maintenance of greenhouse, irrigation facilities, and equipment. Physical stamina for climbing, standing, stooping, and sustained activity. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Preferred Qualifications & Skills: Degree in horticulture or related field, or prior nursery work experience. Experience with greenhouse monitoring software and hardware, preferably Argus. Salary: $21.92 – $27.40 per hour, based on experience and preferred qualifications.
