Position Summary: This position performs diagnostic cardiac sonography examinations and cardiology procedures to provide data for diagnosis of disease and injuries in accordance with all applicable standards, regulations, and licensing requirements. The role demonstrates an expanding knowledge base of complex congenital heart disease for specific types of patient populations. The position applies more in-depth clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills and demonstrates an increased capacity to problem‑solve. Position Duties Perform diagnostic cardiac sonography examinations on patients across the spectrum of congenital and acquired heart disease for interpretation by cardiologist. Determine proper technique and positioning to ensure optimal results in accordanceargi with all applicable standards, protocols, and procedures. Perform or assist with transesophageal, transthoracic, and advanced techniques, including fetal and stress cardiac sonography as required. Document preliminary reports of sonographer's impressions, including pertinent positive and negative anatomic findings and measurements. Participate in career development and leadership activities, serving as preceptor to students, fellows, and orientees. Maintain professional and technical competency by staying apprised of current literature, practices, and new developments, attending staff meetings, and completing self‑directed learning. Care for professional environment and maintain equipment: cleaning, restocking, replenishing, and turnover of exam rooms and equipment; entering data in logs; troubleshooting malfunctions; reporting maintenance issues. Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested. Position Qualifications Education: Graduation from a CAAHEP or ACCSC accredited cardiac sonography program or equivalent, or 10 years experience in cardiac ultrasound. Experience: 3 years full‑time pediatric cardiac sonography (required); endorsement from clinical leadership and medical director(s). Special Skills: RCCS or ARDMS RDCS‑Pediatric (or equivalent) certification, BLS certification, flexible call duties, and reliable transportation for roving assignments. Additional Requirements: Membership to professional societies (e.g., ASE, SDMS, AIUM) and completion of.site‑required continuing education credits to maintain credentials. Certification / License / Registry Requirements for the Position: American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography OR Congenital Cardiac Sonography OR Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography (required); Basic Life Support (required).
