Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit / Observation

Location: Atlanta, GA 30303
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 14 Weeks
Shift: Night | 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
Schedule: 48 or 38 Hours/Week
Local Candidates: Required
Traveler Candidates: Required

Pay Rate:
Local: $50–$56/hr, based on experience
Traveler: $50–$56/hr, based on experience

Required Qualifications:

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license — Required

• Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience in an acute-care setting — Required

• Medical-Surgical and/or Observation nursing experience preferred

• BLS certification — Required

• ACLS certification — Required

• PALS certification — Required

• TNCC certification — Preferred

• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills

• Ability to manage changing patient acuity in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to float to other areas within scope of competency

• Availability to work holidays as required

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a 28-bed Inpatient Observation Unit

• Care for patients with varying levels of acuity, including observation patients, higher-acuity cases, and ED holds

• Care for medical patients and trauma overflow patients

• Perform ongoing patient assessments and identify changes in patient condition

• Administer medications, treatments, and nursing interventions

• Monitor patient acuity and escalate care appropriately

• Collaborate with physicians, ED staff, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams

• Provide patient and family education and support

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

• Follow hospital policies, patient-safety standards, infection-control procedures, and regulatory requirements

• Float to other units or areas within the nurse's competency when required

• Work holidays as part of the assignment requirements
