Job Summary JOB SUMMARY The Environmental Services Technician I at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for creating a clean and safe environment to support the delivery of high‑quality care by performing daily and special cleaning that meets departmental procedures, safety, and infection control standards. The technician remains adaptable and flexible to support team needs as they arise and participates in ongoing professional development. Job Functions Perform daily cleaning of assigned areas (patient rooms, bathrooms, cleaning trash receptacles, high dusting, sanitizing and spot cleaning, inspecting and cleaning empty patient rooms, washing and disinfecting hospital walls and ceilings) according to the standard operating procedures. Perform cleaning duties (including special cleaning and other area assignments) according to the standard operating procedures. Adhere to general safety and infection control standards. Perform responsibilities in a timely, efficient, cost‑effective, confidential, and professional manner conducive to the overall mission and vision of the hospital. Perform other duties as assigned while demonstrating willingness, ability, and team spirit to provide optimal customer satisfaction. Attend, demonstrate, and participate in required in‑services, performance improvement activities (including EXCEL), and other educational programs. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent (Required) Work Experience: Previous experience in a hospital setting (Preferred) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in writing; highly desired. Good communication skills to effectively communicate with inter‑ and intradepartmental employees, patients, family members, physicians, and the public; highly desired. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills needed to proficiently provide service to a customer population that includes neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Must assume primary accountability for performing daily cleaning of assigned areas (patient rooms, bathrooms, cleaning trash receptacles, high dusting, sanitizing and spot cleaning, inspecting and cleaning empty patient rooms, washing and disinfecting hospital walls and ceilings). Must perform assigned cleaning duties (including special cleaning and other area assignments) according to the standard operating procedures. Must prioritize and make suggestions to the supervisor regarding periodical cleaning in assigned areas. Must assume responsibility for reporting safety hazards and cleaning emergency spills when sighted. Must perform responsibilities in a timely, efficient, cost‑effective, confidential, and professional manner. Must have extensive contact with inter‑ and intradepartmental personnel, patients, and family members, physicians, and the public. Must have good communication skills and reflect a positive, caring attitude toward both staff and the public.
