Department: 36317 Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital - CT Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Monday to Friday 2:00pm-10:30pm, Every other weekend Pay Range: $35.50 - $53.25 $10,000 sign on bonus! Major Responsibilities Perform Computed Tomography (CT) procedures using General Electric (GE) Revolution, LightSpeed, BrightSpeed, and HD750 CT systems in accordance with established protocols, operating procedures, and imaging standards. Conduct computerized post-processing of images using appropriate reconstruction software based on the anatomy or pathology being evaluated. Obtain and document patient history and relevant clinical information to support accurate diagnosis and radiologist interpretation. Ensure proper preparation of images and documentation, including accurate patient charging and submission for radiologist review. Start IV lines using proper technique, prepare and administer contrast media, and monitor patients throughout CT procedures. Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition, including initiating emergency procedures (e.g., Code Blue, respiratory distress response) as needed. Patient Experience & Communication Address routine patient concerns and complaints in a professional and empathetic manner. Escalate complex or sensitive issues to appropriate leadership when necessary. Maintain clear and effective communication with patients, physicians, and team members. Scheduling & Workflow Coordination Coordinate scheduling of inpatient and outpatient CT exams to optimize equipment utilization and workflow efficiency. Quality Assurance & Equipment Management Perform quality assurance testing to ensure optimal image quality and equipment performance. Complete daily CT scanner tube warm-ups and calibrations. Identify and communicate equipment issues to appropriate personnel; submit service requests to GE (iLinq) as needed. Maintain cleanliness and organization of diagnostic and support equipment. Supply & Inventory Management Maintain appropriate inventory levels of medical and contrast supplies. Education & Experience Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program 12–24 months of radiology experience preferred Completion of stroke education annually (minimum required hours as applicable) Licensure, Certification & Skills ARRT Registered Technologist (RT) required Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety (IDNS) license required CPR certification required IV certification within 3 months of hire CT certification required within 1 year of hire Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of cross-sectional anatomy and CT imaging procedures Ability to perform all routine CT exams independently Effective verbal and written communication skills Basic computer proficiency Strong organizational, multitasking, and planning abilities Commitment to patient confidentiality and professional standards Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Ability to work flexible hours, including rotating shifts, on-call requirements, overtime, and short-notice scheduling Ability to transport, move, and assist patients as needed Exposure to infectious diseases and clinical environments Risk of musculoskeletal strain due to lifting and repetitive motion Lifting Requirements: Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance For patients over 35 pounds or unable to assist, required use of patient handling equipment and team assistance Unique lifting situations will be evaluated individually Professional Development & Additional Expectations Completion of annual education requirements, including: Stroke education Fire safety Infection control Radiation protection Participation in continuing education, training programs, and professional organizations Adherence to departmental policies, procedures, and physician standards Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions Ability to manage multiple priorities under frequent stress Disclaimer This job description outlines the general nature and level of work performed.
