Principal Data Architect

Role Overview

We are seeking a Principal Data Architect to lead the design and delivery of a modern investment data ecosystem supporting a large-scale front office transformation. This role is ideal for a strategic technical leader who combines deep architecture expertise with strong business acumen and can partner directly with investment stakeholders to modernize data platforms, workflows, and analytics capabilities.

You will serve as both a hands-on architect and trusted advisor, guiding technology direction, influencing platform decisions, and mentoring internal teams through a multi-year modernization journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and implement modern investment data platforms and pipelines

• Lead enterprise data architecture strategy across front office systems

• Evaluate and recommend vendor platforms and integration approaches

• Translate investment workflows into scalable data models and architecture

• Partner directly with portfolio managers, traders, analysts, and technology leaders

• Mentor internal data engineers and architects

• Drive adoption of modern data tools, standards, and governance practices

• Communicate technical strategy clearly to business stakeholders and executives

Required Qualifications

Modern Data Platform Expertise

• Production experience with Snowflake , including performance optimization and cost management

• Strong experience with dbt , testing frameworks, lineage, and documentation standards

• Advanced data modeling for analytics, reporting, and investment decision support

Investment / Financial Domain Experience

• Deep FactSet expertise (workstation, feeds, APIs), preferably including modernization or migration initiatives

• Strong understanding of front office data flows:

  • Portfolio management

  • Trading workflows

  • Investment research processes

• Familiarity with:

  • Order Management Systems (OMS)

  • Portfolio accounting platforms

  • Performance measurement systems

Professional Experience

• 8+ years in data architecture, data engineering, or platform architecture

• 5+ years in asset management, capital markets, or investment operations

• Demonstrated experience leading modernization or transformation initiatives

• Track record of collaborating directly with investment professionals to solve complex data challenges
