National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Bethesda, MD and surrounding area Scientific focus area Cell Biology, Clinical Research, Computational Biology, Genetics and Genomics, Immunology The Food Allergy Research Section in the Laboratory of Allergic Diseases (NIAID) dissects genetic and immune pathways that drive food allergy and related conditions. Postdocs leverage complementary murine models and deeply phenotyped patient cohorts, bridging basic discovery and clinical translation within an innovative, collaborative, mentored research environment. Fellows gain access to advanced core facilities, career development, and interdisciplinary collaborations across NIH and beyond. About the position Projects probe immunologic pathways that sustain long-term humoral immunity, integrating mechanistic mouse models with deeply phenotyped patient samples and in vivo and ex vivo functional assays. Additional studies dissect how the microbiome and early-life exposures shape immune development, using high-dimensional, integrated multi-omic profiling and computational analysis to reveal new targets for prevention, therapy, and future clinical trials. Qualifications Ideal candidates hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in immunology or a related field, with strong skills in flow cytometry, cell isolation and culture, and a track record of rigorous, impactful publications. They are creative, highly organized, and able to drive independent projects and collaborate across disciplines. Experience with high-parameter cytometry and analysis of multi-omics datasets is especially valued in our mentoring‑focused NIH environment. Clear communication and curiosity are essential.
