Group Fitness Instructor

JOB TITLE: Group Fitness Instructor COMPANY: Bears Fit DIRECTLY REPORTS TO: General Manager and Group Fitness Director DEPARTMENT: Group Fitness JOB SUMMARY: The Group Fitness Instructor is a member of the Bears Fit team and plays a key role in the company’s overall success. The Group Fitness Instructor (GFI) will prepare and lead a fun, safe and effective group class based on the class description, offering modifications for less experienced or more experienced clients as needed. The instructor will represent the club in a positive manner, greeting the clients as they enter and leave class. WORK SCHEDULE: This is a part-time position. Your daily schedule will vary throughout the week depending on the needs of the club, the staff, and the members.

Ability to exemplify and live the company’s core values Ability to meet department goals Ability to fulfill essential duties Contribution and proactive participation as part of the company’s Group Fitness Arrive 5 minutes early for all classes to prepare the room and greet clients Dress appropriately for all classes Maintain current and correct certifications for his/her format(s) as well as CPR cert Begin and end classes on time per the monthly schedule Prepare and lead a fun, safe and effective class for all levels of participation based on class description Keep studios orderly, lock stereo cabinet and use a microphone sponge cover Maintain an electronic record of classes taught or subbed, including attendance numbers When needed, secure substitute teacher(s) to cover your regular class or a class you have agreed to sub Notify your Group Fitness Director (GFD) of all substitutes as early as possible Contact the club if you are running late and ask that someone from management notify your class Please teach what is scheduled. If members want something different let the GFD know so a class can be added All written or verbal communication must be delivered in a positive manner Instructors will always uphold the brand standards of Bears Fit

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION:

A passion for health and wellness and the ability to influence people in overcoming their obstacles to exercising, joining a fitness club, and in making lifestyle changes Enjoy networking and building relationships - comfortable on the phone and in doing outreach in the community Commitment to providing top notch customer service and some experience working in a fast-paced customer service role Computer-savvy and proficient in using programs such as Word & Excel Team player who approaches challenges in a creative and positive manner Experience in a sales environment focused on attaining revenue and unit goals is a plus This position description intends to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.
