CNC Machinist

Job Details Posted by KansasWorks. Location: Wichita, KS. Salary Range: $16.00 – $20.00 hourly. Responsibilities Set up and operate 3, 4 and 5 axis Haas CNC Machines, checking first parts and using precision measuring and hand tools. Configure mills and lathes by entering instructions, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation and conditional switches. Calculate requirements using basic math, geometry and trigonometry and prove part programs. Load machines with work pieces. Verify settings by measuring positions, first‑run part and sample workpieces. Maintain specifications by observing operations, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, editing programs, sharpening and replacing worn tools, and adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership of new requests and exploring value‑adding opportunities. Meet production goals in terms of cycle time, quantity and quality. Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of two years experience in an aerospace/aircraft machine shop setting. Experience with multi‑axis CNC machines – a must. Experience with Haas machines/controls – preferred. Requirements Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. Familiar with safety standards and PPE used in a manufacturing setting. Must have reliable transportation. Ability to read and write English. Proficient in blueprint reading. Knowledge of hand tools and precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers. Ability to stay on task with minimal supervision. Problem‑solving skills – a must.
