Instrumentation Maintenance Technician (Electrical & Instrumentation) Location : Quincy, Massachusetts (02169) Schedule: Monday–Friday 6:00 AM–2:30 PM Type: Direct Hire (onsite daily) Pay: $25–$52 per hour (depending on experience) Industry: A bio-based chemical manufacturer The job . .. If you’re the person who gets called when a control valve won’t move, a transmitter is reading wrong, or a flow signal drops out, this is your lane. We’re looking for a hands-on Instrumentation Maintenance Technician to keep plant instruments running--doing preventive maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repairs in a busy industrial facility. This is not just “paperwork” or “engineering only.” It’s a working maintenance role: tools in hand, troubleshooting in the field, and supporting reliable 24/7 operations. What you’ll work on - You’ll inspect, calibrate, repair, and replace common plant instrumentation such as:

• Valves / Final Control
• Control valves (the valve that actually changes the process—controls flow, pressure, level, and temperature)
• Valve positioners (make sure the valve goes exactly where it’s told; often includes diagnostics)
• Pneumatic actuators (air-powered valve actuators)
• Electric actuators (motor-driven valve actuators)
• Temperature / Flow / Pressure / Level
• Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs) (stable/accurate temperature sensors)
• Thermocouples (rugged temperature sensors for hotter/wider ranges)
• Flow meters (liquid/gas/steam flow measurement)
• Differential pressure instruments (used for flow measurement, filter plugging, and sometimes tank level)
• Switches (pressure switches, level switches, flow switches, temperature switches—on/off devices for alarms and safety interlocks)
• Transmitters (pressure/temperature/level/flow transmitters sending signals back to the control system)

What you’ll do day-to-day-responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled checks on plant instrumentation
• Troubleshoot bad readings/signals, drifting instruments, sticking valves, air supply issues, and failed components
• Calibrate and verify instruments after repairs or replacements
• Trace lines and verify conditions before work; follow lockout/tagout and safe work practices
• Read and work from piping and instrumentation diagrams, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer manuals
• Work with vendors to source replacement parts and instruments
• Document work (calibration records, instrument paperwork) and close out work orders in a computerized maintenance management system

What we’re looking for

• 3–5+ years doing hands-on instrumentation maintenance in an industrial or manufacturing setting
• Real experience with control valves, valve positioners, and actuators (air and electric)
• Experience maintaining common plant instruments (RTDs, thermocouples, flow meters, differential pressure devices, switches, transmitters)
• Ability to read piping and instrumentation diagrams and wiring diagrams

Nice to have (not required to apply)

• Troubleshooting exposure to Allen?Bradley (Rockwell Automation) programmable logic controllers and/or Honeywell control systems
• Familiarity with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) / distributed control system environments
• Experience using SAP or similar systems, plus solid documentation habits
• Work environment / physical expectations
• Industrial plant environment with required personal protective equipment, possible confined spaces, and ladder/stair climbing (up to 120 feet). Work involves walking/standing, bending/kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
