Labor and Delivery RN

Job Summary:

The Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care for patients 32 weeks gestation and above in a Level 2 Labor and Delivery unit. This role involves triaging patients, circulating during cesarean sections, managing labor and delivery collaboratively with physicians and midwives, and overseeing patient recovery following vaginal and cesarean deliveries. The nurse ensures high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

  • Triage laboring patients and assess maternal and fetal well-being.
  • Circulate and assist during cesarean sections in the operating room.
  • Collaborate with physicians and midwives to manage labor and delivery processes.
  • Provide post-delivery care and monitor recovery of patients following vaginal and cesarean births.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and clinical procedures.
  • Respond promptly to patient needs and emergencies in the labor and delivery unit.
  • Educate and support patients and families throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Minimum of 4 years nursing experience, preferably in labor and delivery.
  • Ability to triage and manage laboring patients independently.
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills related to obstetrics.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • 5+ years of labor and delivery nursing experience.
  • Previous travel nursing experience.
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system.
Special Considerations:
  • Work in a Level 2 Labor and Delivery unit caring for patients 32 weeks gestation and above.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including physicians and midwives.
  • Night shift position with responsibilities for emergency and routine obstetric care.
  • Ability to work holidays and every other weekend as scheduled.
Scheduling:
  • Nights, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
  • Weekday shifts with every other weekend and holiday coverage required.
