ED Patient Access Associate-ER Registration Facility University Medical Center of El Paso Department ER Registration Schedule - Shift - Hours Full Time - Rotating The ED Patient Access Associate provides quality service in registration of patients in a courteous, professional and timely manner. Conducts patients/guarantor interviews, explains hospital policies, assists patients understand financial responsibilities, and informs patients on bill of rights. Insures all necessary demographic and financial data is obtained and accurately documented. Contacts insurance payers for verification of eligibility and benefits as needed. Ensures any pre-certification/authorization is obtained to meet individual payer payment protocols. Assists patients with a financial screening assessment for program eligibility. Process payments received as necessary. W ork Experience: Two years of experience in customer service related field; O ne year of experience in patient registration and insurance verification in a health care setting, strongly preferred. License/Registrations/Certifications: None Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent. Training or educational background with medical terminology and familiarity with ICD9 coding preferred. Skills: Ability to deal tactfully with Associates, patients, visitors and the public. Basic computer literacy and keyboarding skills required. Effective written and verbal communication skills required. Analytical and problem-solving skills required.
