Job Summary
Performs duties with minimum supervision following documented procedures and processing standards. Performs secretarial responsibilities, contributing to the efficient operation of the department, and promoting Hamilton Medical Center's philosophy to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care. Ability to explain more complex tasks and non-routine matters as they relates to department activities. Ensures the coordination of secretarial responsibilities and Imaging Resource Specialists tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner. Coordinates and distributes task with scheduled staff to meet the needs of the Imaging Department to ensure information is available to all medical areas. Performs all duties in a manner that promotes teamwork, collaboration, honesty, respect, and confidentiality in order to reflect the institution's mission and philosophy. This position will provide assistance to the Imaging Resource Specialist I position. Understands, utilizes and troubleshoots a network of computerized systems for processing information and for archiving and retrieving image studies. Comprehends a multitude of workflows in Imaging, assisting a broad customer base internally and externally to the institution. Rotates work assignments within the Data Center such as scheduling confirmation, reception, registration verification and assisting imaging modalities as needed with varying degrees of complexity, in a multi-site operation.
Acts as lead with the electronic transfer of patient images to physicians' offices, Emergency Room, Surgery, inpatient nursing units, and ICUs in order to ensure patients and physicians are well served. Performs departmental image maintenance responsibilities, contributing to the efficient operation of the department and promoting Hamilton Medical Center's philosophy, to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care. Transports Imaging patients of all age populations throughout the hospital, maintains transport equipment, and contributes to the efficient operation of the department. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and assess data reflective of the patient's current status in relation to their age specific needs.
Job Qualifications
Education: High school graduate or equivalent is required. Some college to an associate's degree is preferred.
Licensure: CPR Certification required; Certified Nursing Assistant License preferred or equivalent on the job training.
Experience: Two plus years of secretarial experience in a hospital or related setting is required. Must have excellent knowledge and skills in Microsoft applications (MS Office Word, Excel, Power point, etc.. Excellent computer skills required to learn other operating systems. One (1) year of experience in a hospital or clinic Imaging Records Department required. One (1) year of experience in a supervisory/lead role is preferred. Anatomy and medical terminology class highly desirable. Trained in or have the ability to be trained to operate in a PACS environment. Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to maintain a professional attitude under stress; Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
Skills
- Develop proficiency of Imaging Management System, PACS, and DMCEZ CD burner with training.
- Develop proficiency and working knowledge of electronic medical record systems and digital image sharing applications.
- Understand, utilize and troubleshoot a network of computerized systems for processing information and for archiving and retrieving image studies.
- Demonstrate proficiency of high speed typing of at least 60 WPM; Must be proficient in computer office applications; knowledge of medical and departmental terminology. Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels in the organization. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding all documents and communications. Ability to interpret and follow oral or documented procedures, instructions, laws, and policies. Ability to project a positive and professional image on behalf of the organization.
Physical, Mental, Environmental and Working Conditions
Moderate amount of sitting with stooping and bending. An extensive amount of typing is required. Worker must adjust to performing routine, repetitive tasks under specific supervision. Position requires some walking for deliveries between departments and to use certain equipment. Worker will be performing in a radiation area.
