About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Must have license in hand at time of submittal Certifications: ASLS, BLS Must-Have: Proficient in Telemetry Description: The role requires working within a cardiac medical unit. Responsibilities include managing a combination of cardiac step-down, med/surg telemetry, and stroke overflow patients. The unit typically does not take patients post cardiac catheterization unless a radial artery was used. Additional patient conditions managed may include chest pain rule-out, congestive heart failure, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Skills in cardiac management, handling chest tubes, hi-flow oxygen delivery, Bi-PAP therapy, thoracentesis, peritoneal dialysis, tracheostomy care, pacemaker management, and CIWA protocol are needed. The unit consists of 20 beds with a patient ratio of 5:1. Staffing includes a team of 4 RNs supported by a Clinical Nurse Coordinator, 2 licensed nursing assistants, and a unit clerk. Common equipment utilized within the unit includes IV pumps and Bipap systems. Documentation is performed using Meditech Expanse. Scheduling includes three 12-hour shifts with every other weekend or four shifts per week. Float policies are in place as outlined in the unit guidelines. The unit holds certifications as a STEMI hospital, stroke center, and Level II trauma center. Candidates should be aware of unit-specific policies and guidelines.
