Join us to do the best work of your career as a Mechanical Piping Designer in our Power Group Team in Boston, MA (Hybrid role).Our Power Group, for which this role would be supporting, is leading the future of the energy and utility generation industry, focused on combined heat and power, alternative fuels like biogas and hydrogen, fuel cells, battery storage, among many other cutting-edge technologies. Expand your skillset and have a voice by working outside the box with the way we approach projects at Vanderweil.Some of your responsibilities include the following:Produce drawings and design of piping and ductwork systems for industrial projects such as cogeneration power plants, central heating and cooling plants, renewable energy systems and large chillers and boilersDevelop equipment general arrangement drawings, piping plans and section drawingsDevelop 3D model of designDesign and model equipment skids, selection and design of pipe supportsCoordinate layout of mechanical equipment and routing of piping, ductwork, and miscellaneous components with other tradesCreate and modify technical drawings and schematics from engineer markups using AutoCAD and REVITAssure designs are complete, accurate and in accordance with good engineering practiceReview project files for compliance with company and/or client standards and proceduresMay travel to project sites to observe existing conditionsReview equipment and component submittals for compatibility with designLocate pipe supports based on general rules of thumb. Engineer to finalize support design and locationsLocate instruments on piping plans based on P&IDsProvide feedback to engineers regarding feasibility of arrangements and designAttend client/contractor review meetingsOther duties as assignedEvery Vanderweil Engineers team member brings something unique to the table. Here is what we are looking for with this role:Associate degree or equivalent from a vocational training program or technical school3 to 7 plus years' experience desiredKnowledge of ASME codes and industry piping standards requiredExperience with AutoCAD and Revit is strongly preferredMotivated and self-sufficient, strong computer skills and detail-oriented perspectivesAbility to work individually or in a team setting with strong interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skillsCustomer service perspective with the ability to communicate effectively with staff and clientsKnowledge in MS Office products including Word, Excel, OutlookOur Flexible & Hybrid Work Culture At Vanderweil Engineers, we believe our best work is done when flexibility is offered.
