Routes are run on time, loads are complete and correct, and customers never have to call wondering where their material is. You make their jobs easier, not harder.**We Own It:** You take responsibility for your load, your vehicle, and your delivery. Pre-trip inspections are done right, not skipped. You help offload when needed, represent Shepherd professionally, and flag anything that could become a problem before it does.**Key Outcomes***Organized by what matters, not just what you do.***Delivery & Transportation*** Operate tractor-trailer and box/flatbed trucks (manual and automatic transmission) on assigned routes throughout the service area* Deliver electrical materials accurately and on time to job sites, contractor yards, and customer locations* Confirm delivery accuracy before departure and document any discrepancies immediately* Communicate proactively with dispatch and branch operations if a delivery is at risk of delay**Vehicle Operation & Safety*** Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections every shift — no shortcuts* Operate equipment safely and in full compliance with DOT regulations and Shepherd safety standards* Report mechanical issues, equipment needs, or safety concerns to leadership without delay* Maintain current CDL Class A license, DOT certification, and medical certification at all times**Warehouse Support*** Assist with loading and unloading as needed, including wrapping pallets and staging outbound freight* Support warehouse operations during non-driving time, including picking and packing customer orders when business needs require it* Work collaboratively with the warehouse team to ensure loads are built correctly before they leave the building**Customer Interaction*** Represent Shepherd professionally at every delivery — your conduct is the customer’s experience of our brand* Communicate clearly and courteously with job site personnel and contractors at every stop* Flag any customer feedback, complaints, or concerns to your Manager the same day they occur**What Success Looks Like**After 90 days, you and your Manager should both be able to point to these markers:* Routes are run on time and deliveries are complete and correct — recurring errors or missed stops are rare* Pre-trip and post-trip inspections are completed every shift without prompting* Discrepancies are documented and communicated the day they occur — not discovered later* Customers and job site contacts report professional, reliable interactions* Vehicle is returned in the condition it left — fueled, clean, and ready for the next run* Warehouse team trusts that loads you help stage or pack are right before they go out the door**Who Thrives Here**This role is a strong fit if:* You take safety seriously — every pre-trip, every run, not just when someone is watching* You communicate problems early, not after they become someone else’s issue* You take pride in how you represent the company at every delivery* You are reliable — your team knows they can count on you to show up ready and execute* You treat the warehouse as part of your team, not a separate function* You understand that a missed delivery or a sloppy load is not just a logistics problem — it is a broken promise to a customer**Qualifications & Requirements*** CDL Class A license required* Current DOT and Medical Certification cards required* Minimum 3 years of driving experience with a clean motor vehicle record* Ability to operate tractor-trailer with manual transmission* Knowledge of air brake systems* Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. regularly and perform the physical requirements of the role* High school diploma or equivalent preferred* Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain through onsite training* Available for schedule adjustments as business needs require* Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening* Strong verbal communication skills — you relay information clearly and on time* Familiarity with the area - delivery routes preferred**Why Join Shepherd Electric Supply*** Competitive hourly rate with opportunity for growth* Medical, dental, and life insurance* Prescription drug coverage* Paid vacation and personal time* 401(k) with employer match* Stable organization with over 130 years of industry leadership* A culture where reliability is noticed, ownership is rewarded, and people come first**Work Shift and Hours:** Monday - Friday, 4:00am - 12:00pm**Compensation Details:** The expected pay rate for this position is starting at $30.00 - $35.00 per hour depending on experience.**Additional Information:*** Steel toed boots required.* CDL Class A required and must pass DOT medical exam.
