Ubuntu Security Engineer

As an Ubuntu Security Engineer at Canonical, you will be part of a pioneering team dedicated to enhancing the security of the open source community and Ubuntu users against emerging threats. This role involves monitoring, triaging, and documenting vulnerabilities, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to ensure robust security features within Ubuntu.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze, fix, and test vulnerabilities in open source packages.
Keep track of vulnerabilities in the Ubuntu ecosystem and leverage internal tools.
Collaborate with other teams and upstream developers to develop vulnerability patches.
Audit source code for vulnerabilities and build security features and tools.
Engage with the open source community and participate in industry initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Thorough understanding of security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques.
Familiarity with coordinated disclosure practices.
Experience with open source development tools and methodologies.
Proficient in C, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, PHP, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
