Associate Veterinarian
Tempus Veterinary Recruitment
Introduction
Our client is a small animal veterinary hospital seeking a full-time or part-time Associate Veterinarian to join its established team. The practice primarily provides veterinary care for dogs and cats but welcomes veterinarians with additional clinical interests they would like to introduce. The hospital offers a close-knit, family-style working environment with a dedicated, long-standing team that places a strong emphasis on collaboration, flexibility and supporting one another.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will provide comprehensive small animal veterinary care, with opportunities to undertake diagnostic investigations, dentistry, medical case management and surgical procedures. The hospital offers a range of surgical services, including soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures, although veterinarians who prefer a non-surgical role will also be considered. Appointment lengths can be adjusted according to the veterinarian's preferences and individual patient requirements. The position is open to veterinarians of all experience levels, including new graduates. Both full-time and part-time arrangements are available, with full-time hours starting at 30 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible, with full-time arrangements ranging from three to five days per week.
Practice Details
The hospital provides a comprehensive range of medical, surgical and diagnostic services, supported by digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound, an in-house laboratory, electronic medical records and a dedicated surgical suite. Diagnostic capabilities include echocardiography, electrocardiography, endoscopy, serum chemistry, haematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. Dental services include professional cleaning, polishing, extractions, restorations and oral surgery. Additional services include microchipping, dietary counselling, parasite prevention and access to specialist consultations and referrals across multiple disciplines. The practice also provides advanced anaesthetic monitoring and maintains an on-site pharmacy. Renovations to the hospital are planned once the veterinary team has achieved greater stability.
Team
The hospital currently has two part-time DVMs supported by five team members, including a practice manager. The support team is highly experienced, with staff members having worked at the hospital for over a decade. The practice prides itself on maintaining a genuine, supportive and close-knit working environment where team members collaborate and support one another in delivering patient care. The practice manager is certified to perform echocardiograms and abdominal ultrasounds, providing additional diagnostic support to the veterinary team.
