RN ICU Float

Job Summary:

The ICU Float Registered Nurse (RN MICU) provides expert nursing care across multiple critical care units including MICU, SICU, Respiratory Special Care, and Surgical Progressive Care. This role demands strong clinical expertise in acute care ICU settings, critical thinking, and excellent communication skills to deliver high-quality patient care. The RN is expected to adapt to varying unit needs and collaborate effectively within a dynamic healthcare environment. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to critically ill patients in multiple ICU settings.
• Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and administer medications and treatments.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Float between MICU, SICU, Respiratory Special Care, and Surgical Progressive Care units as staffing needs dictate.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system.
• Respond to emergencies and provide critical interventions as needed.
• Participate in charge nurse responsibilities and support unit staffing needs.
• Stay current with latest critical care nursing practices and protocols.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active New York State Registered Nurse license (NY License ONLY).
• Minimum of 2 years acute care ICU RN experience.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• American Heart Association ACLS certification.
• Strong critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to pass TB skin test.
• Full COVID-19 vaccination including booster.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system within the last year.

Special Considerations:

• Must be flexible to cover units with highest staffing needs.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• On-call, callback, and charge nurse duties as required.
• Traveler status not accepted for first-time travelers.

Scheduling:

• Rotating day, evening, and night shifts.
• Work schedule includes every other weekend, holidays, and on-call rotations.
• Assignment duration from 10/26/2026 to 01/23/2027.
