Role Description The Licensed Optician at Walmart Health & Wellness in Swansea, MA is a full-time, on-site role focused on supporting patients with their vision needs. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting patients in selecting frames and lenses, performing measurements, and interpreting optical prescriptions to recommend appropriate products. The role involves fitting, adjusting, and repairing eyewear to ensure comfort, accuracy, and optimal visual performance. The Licensed Optician collaborates with optometrists and other healthcare team members, educates patients on lens options and eyewear care, and helps maintain merchandising standards and inventory in the Vision Center. The position also requires adherence to regulatory guidelines, company policies, and high standards of customer service and patient care. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong knowledge of Optics and Optometry principles to accurately interpret prescriptions and recommend suitable lens and frame options. Candidates should possess skills in Customer Service and Customer Satisfaction to deliver a welcoming experience, address concerns, and build long-term patient relationships. Candidates should possess familiarity with Eye Exams workflows to coordinate with optometrists and support patients through the exam and eyewear selection process. Active state licensure as an Optician (or eligibility for licensure in Massachusetts) and compliance with all applicable regulations. Experience in a retail optical or clinical eye care setting, with the ability to fit, adjust, and repair eyewear accurately. Strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Comfort with basic technology and point-of-sale systems; willingness to learn Walmart-specific systems and processes.
