Trailhead Family & Life Skills is looking for compassionate, dependable, and energetic Behavior Technicians (BTs) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to join our growing team in Colorado Springs.

We are a locally owned, trauma-informed ABA company that believes effective behavior support does not have to come at the expense of a child's autonomy, dignity, or individuality.

Our approach is child-led, neuro-affirming, relationship-based, and focused on skills that actually matter in a child's life. We want our clients to learn how to communicate, advocate for themselves, build relationships, participate in their communities, and become more independent—not simply learn how to look compliant.

If you're already an RBT, we'd love to meet you. Not certified yet? That's okay. We also hire Behavior Technicians and provide support toward becoming a Registered Behavior Technician.

What You'll Do

As a BT/RBT at Trailhead, you'll work one-on-one with children and adolescents under the supervision of a BCBA. Depending on the client's needs, sessions may take place at The Outpost, our downtown Colorado Springs clinic, in clients' homes, at school, or in the community.

Your day may include helping a client:

• Communicate their wants, needs, boundaries, and emotions
• Build friendships and navigate social situations
• Develop coping, flexibility, and self-advocacy skills
• Participate safely and successfully at school or in the community
• Learn independent living and age-appropriate life skills
• Work through challenging situations using supportive, individualized strategies
• Play, explore, create, move, and learn through their own interests

You'll implement individualized treatment plans, collect accurate data, communicate with your supervising BCBA, complete required documentation, and collaborate with a team that wants you to understand why you're doing something—not just follow a protocol.

• Genuinely interested in working with children and adolescents
• Reliable and able to consistently maintain their scheduled sessions
• Comfortable receiving feedback, coaching, and ongoing training
• Able to stay regulated and supportive when a client is having a difficult moment
• Willing to play, be creative, get on the floor, go outside, and follow a client's interests
• Respectful of neurodivergent children and individual differences
• Interested in understanding behavior rather than simply stopping it
• Comfortable working collaboratively with BCBAs, caregivers, schools, and other providers
• Able to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality

Experience in ABA, education, psychology, childcare, special education, behavioral health, or related fields is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person.

Already an RBT?

Great. We're looking for RBTs who want strong BCBA support, opportunities to grow, and an environment where clinical decision-making is individualized rather than one-size-fits-all.

New to ABA?

Trailhead has an RBT Academy designed to help Behavior Technicians complete the training and preparation necessary to pursue RBT certification. Team members hired as BTs are expected to actively work toward meeting Trailhead's RBT certification requirements.

Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Be able to pass required background checks
• Have reliable transportation for assigned sessions
• Be able to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely support assigned clients
• Maintain dependable attendance
• Complete required training and documentation
• Maintain RBT certification and continuing requirements when working in an RBT role
