Geronimo Power is a portfolio company managed by Brookfield Asset Management.Geronimo Power is seeking a Permitting Specialist to prepare/obtain and ensure compliance with land use, environmental, and construction related permits for utility-scale solar, wind projects and powered land. This role will cover all stages of environmental planning and analysis for development projects, ranging from initial greenfield site diligence through environmental surveys and acquisition of any required federal, state, or local permits.Duties:Lead land-use and environmental permitting processes, including:Researching and understanding local, state and federal lawsManage/prepare permit applications for conditional use, variance, zoning change, text amendment or annexationRepresenting Geronimo Power at stakeholder meetings, public hearings, open houses and other sponsored eventsWork with local law/code amendment processesManage environmental review and permitting processes including wetland, endangered species, and archaeological/culturalObtain proposals for environmental surveys, manage consultants providing technical support, review deliverablesTrack and schedule permit tasks and provide regular updates to manager and project teamAssist with preparation of project budgetsConduct site review of greenfield sites to inform project planningSupport project mapping and planningProvide support through project financing and construction to ensure permit complianceDevelop and support project planning initiativesExperience/Qualifications:B.A., B.S., in environmental studies or closely related field. Or equivalent work experience.2-5 years of environmental permitting experienceFamiliarity with the National Environmental Policy Act, permitting through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, State Historic Preservation Offices, and state Public Utility Commissions preferredFamiliarity with state and local government processes, including zoning, variances, comprehensive plans, conditional use permitting and annexationAbility to multi-task and work well under pressure to meet deadlinesExcellent public speaking and presentation skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment in both team and individual settingsMust be flexible and detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skillsUp to 25% travel requiredExperience with the following software:Microsoft programsESRI ArcMapGoogle Earth ProPreference may be given to candidates with the following:Renewable energy development experience, data center experience or local government experienceStrong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish effective working relationships and articulate issues and subject matter to process owners while being a team playerSkills/Attributes:Strong writing skillsComfortable with Public SpeakingAchievement drivenEnergeticAble to manage multiple tasks and projectsLoyal and committed to the organizationPursuit of personal growthAdvanced degreePay Range for the posted level: Minimum of $70,000-100,000.00 We offer a comprehensive benefit package, including Medical, Dental, 401(k) and disability benefits.
