$18.5 per hour

Job Description

Job Description

Deburring & Finishing Operator – Steel Production

Precision Steel Services — Toledo, OH

Precision Steel Services has supplied steel across the Midwest since 1974. We are looking for a Deburring & Finishing Operator to help clean, finish, organize, and move steel parts through production.

This role is the bridge between cutting and quality.

As a Deburring & Finishing Operator, you run deburring equipment, hand-finish parts when needed, and stage material so production keeps moving. When this role is done right, parts move forward clean, safe, and ready for inspection. When it is not, work backs up, rework increases, and the next operation slows down.

This is hands-on, physical work for someone who can keep pace, stay consistent, and take pride in doing the job right.

Pay, Shift & Growth Opportunity

Base Pay: $18.50/hour, based on experience

Shift Premiums:

  • 2nd Shift: +$0.50/hour
  • 3rd Shift: +$1.00/hour

Overtime available

How You Grow Here

We do not believe in flat roles. Your pay and responsibility can grow with performance.

Operators can advance by building skill in part finishing, material handling, quality awareness, safe work habits, production pace, and overall reliability.

Progression is earned through performance, not just time on the job.

Benefits
  • Direct hire position
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off (PTO) starting at 90 days
  • Life insurance
  • Short-term disability and supplemental coverage options
  • Performance and attendance-based incentives
  • Ongoing training and skill development
  • Cross-training and advancement opportunities
  • Stable, full-time work with overtime opportunities
What You’ll Do
  • Operate deburring and finishing equipment to clean and finish steel parts
  • Load, unload, move, and position steel parts manually or with lifting equipment as trained
  • Remove sharp edges, slag, burrs, and surface issues from cut parts
  • Use hand tools and grinders when machine finishing is not enough
  • Inspect parts for cleanliness, edge condition, finish quality, and obvious defects
  • Label, stack, organize, and stage material correctly for the next operation
  • Keep finished parts moving so production does not back up
  • Follow work instructions and basic job information
  • Use basic measurements, including tape measure and shop math, as trained
  • Communicate quality, workflow, material, or equipment issues early
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow PPE requirements
What We Expect
  • You own the finish — dirty, sharp, or poorly finished parts do not move forward
  • You work with urgency while keeping control of quality and safety
  • You stay consistent during repetitive physical work
  • You pay attention to details like part condition, marking, stacking, and staging
  • You keep your area moving so the next operation is not waiting
  • You stay aware of your surroundings in an active manufacturing environment
  • You communicate problems instead of ignoring them
  • You show up reliably and understand that attendance matters
  • You are willing to learn, improve, and take on more responsibility over time
Required Qualifications
  • Previous physical labor experience required, such as manufacturing, construction, roofing, landscaping, masonry, concrete, warehouse, material handling, or similar work
  • Comfortable with repetitive physical work in a manufacturing environment
  • Able to safely handle steel parts and use hand tools
  • Able to lift, move, bend, stand, walk, and work on your feet throughout the shift
  • Able to work in varying shop conditions, including heat, cold, noise, and active equipment movement
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Ability to follow instructions and communicate clearly
  • Willingness to learn and improve
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a steel shop, fabrication shop, warehouse, or manufacturing environment
  • Deburring, grinding, finishing, or hand tool experience
  • Machine operation experience
  • Forklift, crane, or material handling experience
  • Basic tape measure, shop math, or measurement experience
  • Experience reading work orders, tags, labels, or basic production paperwork
What Winning Looks Like
  • Finished parts are clean, safe, and ready for inspection
  • Sharp edges, burrs, slag, and obvious quality issues are caught before parts move forward
  • Material is labeled, stacked, organized, and staged correctly
  • Production keeps moving because finished parts do not pile up
  • Rework is reduced
  • Your work area stays clean, safe, and controlled
  • You stay reliable, consistent, and productive throughout the shift
  • You build trust and become someone the team can count on
