Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18+ months of recent telemetry experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Details

Acute care Med/Tele unit (K3) in a rural hospital setting

25-bed unit with 5-6:1 patient ratios

Common diagnoses include CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, CKD, and med/surg telemetry cases

RNs must be able to read telemetry strips; tele monitor techs assist with monitoring

RNs titrate Heparin drips

PCTs present at a 12:1 ratio; Charge Nurses, House Supervisors, and Nurse Educators available for support

Cares for CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow patients

Uses Paragon charting system, transitioning to EPIC on 10/30/2026

12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) on an every-other-weekend schedule

Holiday coverage required

No call or standby requirements

Floats to all med/surg units and possibly to PCU for tele holds prior to transfer

Block scheduling cannot be accommodated; scheduling based on facility needs

Requirements

Active TX or Compact RN license required

BLS certification required (ACLS may be required)

Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Tele experience required

Rural hospital experience preferred

Strong communication and time management skills required

Ability to read telemetry strips required

Two professional references required: one supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

Provide direct patient care to Med/Surg Tele patients including monitoring, medication administration, and drip titration

Work alongside tele monitor techs, PCTs, Charge Nurses, House Supervisors, and Nurse Educators

Department orientation includes 2 shadow/orientation shifts

Navy blue scrub color required

Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year (PRN through outside firms is acceptable)

Hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
