Organizational Summary
Maternity Care Coalition (MCC) is a community-based nonprofit organization serving Pennsylvania and Delaware with over four decades of commitment to improving maternal and child health and early care and education. MCC’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of pregnant women and parenting families and enhance school readiness for children ages 0-3. We achieve this through direct service, advocacy, and research, in collaboration with individuals, families, providers, and communities. Position Summary
Empower Your Choices (EYC) is a comprehensive reproductive and sexual health education program that promotes health and well-being across the lifespan. The Community Health Educator delivers engaging, evidence-based education to preteens, adolescents, and older adults in community- and school-based settings. Responsibilities include facilitating interactive workshops and learning opportunities focused on puberty and adolescent development, reproductive and sexual health, healthy relationships, communication and decision-making skills, disease prevention, and healthy aging and wellness. Services are provided during regular business hours, in the evenings, and on weekends, as needed.
Core Functional Responsibilities
- Provide highly interactive, evidence-based sexual and reproductive health education to youth ages 13-18, to equip young people with essential decision-making, communication, and relationship skills.
- Lead community-based education sessions for preteens focused on puberty, menstrual health, and adolescent development, increasing knowledge, confidence, and healthy self-management skills.
- Facilitate workshops for older adults that promote healthy aging and overall well-being, equipping participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed decisions about their health, relationships, and quality of life.
- Deliver programming virtually and primarily in person to youth in care settings (e.g., foster care and juvenile detention centers), schools, and community-based settings (e.g., after-school programs and youth resource & outreach centers).
- Facilitate discussions and activities that support healthy decision-making, goal setting, and positive youth development.
- Connect youth to reproductive health services and resources, including the provision of menstrual products as appropriate.
- Conduct health promotion activities by providing client education, disseminating educational materials, and distributing disease prevention resources, including condoms.
- Conduct pre- and post-surveys to measure the impact and effectiveness of community-based groups and educational programs.
- Keep careful, timely records of participant data and group statistics to support accurate reporting and program evaluation.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations, partners, and other stakeholders.
- Assist with community outreach activities to increase program awareness, engagement, and recruitment.
- Recruit program participants through relationship-building, individualized support, and follow-up.
- Utilize evidence-based curricula and materials to deliver community-based education.
- Support and refer participants needing more intensive follow-up to appropriate services and agencies.
- Provide educational literature, prevention materials, and community resources to participants as needed.
- Represent MCC at community meetings, health fairs, and other events as requested by supervisor.
- Attend training to advance knowledge and skills.
- Meet regularly with supervisor to discuss work, goals, progress, challenges, and program outcomes.

- Adhere to the MCC’s security guidelines and ensure the appropriate handling of sensitive information.
- Attend relevant staff meetings to promote communication and execution of goals.
- Participate in professional development, training, and workshops to enhance professional growth.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned to support departmental priorities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Understanding of MCC’s mission, goals, and objectives and ability to work independently with a high level of energy and contribute as part of a larger team.
- Knowledge of the concepts and practices associated with community and reproductive health issues, particularly those affecting youth, pregnant people, families with young children, and women across the lifespan.
- Ability to travel Berks County, Bucks County, Chester County, Delaware County, Lehigh County, Montgomery County, Northampton County, and Philadelphia County.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues facing the community served.
- Knowledge of group facilitation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interaction with diverse groups of co-workers, community partners, clients, and members of the community.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms, with the ability to use common software applications, spreadsheets, customized databases, and multimedia tools.
- Ability to organize tasks efficiently with strong attention to detail.
- Effective and accurate documentation of case notes and client data.
Experience, Education, and Licensure
Experience
- Experience in reproductive justice, sexual health, or related community-based programs and services.
- Two or more years of experience facilitating groups, workshops, educational programs, or community outreach initiatives.
Education
- Associate degree required in social work, community health education, public health, or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree preferred in social work, community health education, public health, or a related field.
- Equivalent professional or lived experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Licensure/Certification
- Community Health Worker (CHW) certification preferred.

Maternity Care Coalition operates as a hybrid organization. The assigned work arrangement for this position may include a combination of remote and onsite work and will be determined based on operational needs, role responsibilities, and performance. Work arrangement expectations may be modified over time to meet organizational or programmatic requirements. Staff working remotely are responsible for maintaining a safe and appropriate workspace.
- Ability to engage in extended periods of sitting, computer work, and sustained concentration to complete financial analysis, reporting, and related tasks.
- Ability to occasionally bend, reach, lift, carry, push, or pull training materials or equipment, generally not exceeding 30 pounds.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence and the ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle record check, where driving is an essential function of the role.
- Ability to travel occasionally to attend conferences, seminars, and professional meetings.
- Ability to work non‑traditional hours based on operational needs.
- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of required post‑offer pre‑employment background clearances, as well as any additional post‑hire background, compliance, or programmatic clearances required by the organization, funders, or applicable regulations.
