Senior Automation Engineer

Salary: $104,800 - 144,100 per year Requirements:

• We are looking for a bachelors degree in an Electrical Engineering discipline, or a combination of college education and Electrical Engineering experience.
• We require 7 to 10 years of experience in Process, Automation, or Manufacturing Engineering within an industrial environment.
• We need strong industrial controls expertise with hands-on experience.
• We expect proficiency in Rockwell PLC programming; Siemens experience is a plus.
• We value experience planning power distribution, creating conduit and cable schedules, and producing AutoCAD layouts, including medium-voltage power and transformers.
• We are seeking strong knowledge of industrial electronics such as SCRs, diodes, and rectifiers.
• We prefer experience with SCADA systems, including Wonderware or similar platforms.
• We prefer a Lean Manufacturing background.
• We are looking for experience in project management and capital project management, including scope development, quoting, justification, and implementation.
• We need proficiency with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office.
• We need the ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects of varying complexity.
• Tube mill or steel industry experience is preferred.
• We are looking for a professional, positive, self-motivated, and creative approach, with the ability to work independently.
• We need strong verbal and written communication skills.

• We drive productivity improvements and establish best practices across the business.
• We lead and oversee projects, including improvement and new equipment initiatives, and prepare related documentation and schedules.
• We support manufacturing improvement efforts such as Lean Manufacturing, process optimization, and problem-solving.
• We prepare bid and costing details for electrical projects, use Gantt charts to track progress, and manage deadlines.
• We create schematics, technical documentation, and troubleshooting guidelines for skilled trades teams.
• We implement and expand our SCADA system.
• We participate in and lead continuous improvement activities.
• We help maintain the plants electrical infrastructure.
• We ensure electrical equipment remains compliant with safety codes.
• We provide troubleshooting guidance to E-Techs and electricians.
• We recommend methods, materials, and layouts that improve manufacturing performance and align with plant needs.
• We complete our immersion program and build a strong understanding of our strategy, coworkers, facility, and team.
• We ensure equipment operates properly and train others on correct usage.
• We improve manufacturing processes to reduce cost and improve quality or efficiency through workflow planning, design, fabrication, tooling, equipment layout, and materials analysis.
• We prepare and maintain detailed facility and equipment layouts.
• We analyze scrap, downtime, line rates, and material usage, then prepare reports and charts to support data-driven decisions.
• We develop and maintain process guidelines and training programs for new products and systems.
• We manage multiple projects by creating plans, estimates, and schedules.
• We work to reduce process variation and maintain consistent product quality and compliance with manufacturing and agency standards.
• We provide engineering input on design concepts and specification requirements to maximize equipment and manufacturing effectiveness.
• We support operations by leading technical efforts to solve facility-wide problems.
• We lead cost-reduction initiatives through materials, product, and process improvements.
