Registered Nurse In Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU License: Active state license required Certifications: BCLS, ACLS (BSN preferred) Must-Have: Relias EKG exam must be passed. Experience in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias is required. Ability to care for multi-system organ failure patients. Description: The position involves caring for patients in an Intensive Care Unit specializing in Oncology. The average daily census is 21 patients with a maximum of 25 beds in the unit. Patient ratios are set at 1 nurse to 2 patients. Nurses will manage various medical procedures and protocols, including IV insulin protocols and arterial line management. Travelers must have experience in blood product administration and care of ventilated patients. Suctioning of endotracheal and nasotracheal tubes is a required skill. Duties also include phlebotomy and central/PICC line management. Compliance with infection prevention and isolation precautions is mandatory. Nurses will participate in interdisciplinary support with various teams, including pharmacy and respiratory services. Chemotherapy is managed within the ICU, but administration by agency nurses is not permitted. Floating may occur within the service line to meet facility needs. Additional skills include continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation administration. First-time travelers are welcomed. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend.
