Overview Our client is a large investment advisor in the Bay Area. They manage capital for a mix of UHNW families and various institutions. The firm invests across all asset classes, has a long track record of success for their clients, and has built an exceptional team of investment professionals. They have a great culture and provide a collaborative environment for professional development. They are currently seeking an Associate to focus on their venture capital investment program. This is a substantial and long-term commitment to the asset class. The Associate will focus on underwriting LP investments into venture capital funds and direct/co-investments, while occasionally working on investments in buyout funds and associated co-investments. The position is based in the Bay Area and will initially be a two-year role, with potential to stay on for a third year or longer for exceptional performers. They offer a hybrid work schedule, typically with three days in the office per week. Responsibilities Sourcing, managing, and screening new investment opportunities in funds and co-investment opportunities Developing/expanding the firm’s network in the venture capital ecosystem Regular meetings with potential and existing managers Conducting in-depth due diligence on managers and companies In-depth financial modeling on various investment opportunities Assisting in performance measurement, benchmarking, and presentations (both internal and client-facing) Monitoring existing investments across various asset classes Drafting investment memoranda and financial analyses Conducting market research Qualifications Two to four years of experience (investment banking, direct VC or PE, venture-backed operating companies), or a similar amount of experience in a role that has involved a high degree of analytical work combined with familiarity with venture capital and private equity Intellectual curiosity and an ability to think independently Excellent academic credentials from a top-tier school Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines Strong analytical and financial modeling skills Outstanding oral and written communication skills Highly ethical and trustworthy Self-starter capable of taking initiative, but who is also willing to receive guidance and direction #J-18808-Ljbffr Pinnacle Group
