Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year required License: Valid Compact license must be in hand at submission Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Previous charge experience of 2 years - Patient ratio experience of 2:1 Description: The registered nurse will work in a critical care setting. Shifts will be 12 hours, either starting at 07:00 or 19:00. The nurse will be involved in the care of patients with complex medical conditions. Experience with a charting system is preferred. The nurse will assist with chest tube insertion and removal. Care of ventilated patients is a crucial responsibility. Experience in managing CVA and acute stroke patients is needed. Knowledge of hypothermia protocol and monitoring intracranial pressure is essential. Infection prevention and isolation precautions must be adhered to. The nurse will work with a diverse patient population including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Daily census is approximately 10 patients with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 2:1. The nurse will collaborate with various interdisciplinary team members. Special procedures and equipment may be utilized in the unit. Flexibility to float between facilities may be necessary. The nurse must be able to commit to working major holidays. References and previous work experience will be required during the compliance process. Travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities.
